Secretary: The minutes were accepted as reported.
Treasurer’s Report
Treasurer Rich Loomis reported that our
checking account balance is $14,282.66; the Health Fund account
balance is $4,229.86, and the Breed Rescue Fund balance is
$5,422.56, for a total of $23,935.08 in our treasury. All bills
that were submitted have been paid; there are still some blood draw
bills pending. Amanda moved that Rich be allowed to complete the
paperwork necessary to change the names on the checking account to
the present Board. Sue seconded the motion and it was passed.
Corresponding Secretary
A. The AKC has granted permission for Sweeps
to be held and the Springfield show on Nov. 28th. Pat
Folz will be our Sweeps judge. B. CVVC received correspondence
stating that the AKC is investigating potential violations of AKC
rules pertaining to the 2010 Garden State Association show.
Committee Reports
A. Rescue: No report
B. Hunting Test Committee: The Hunting Test
will be held on October 23rd and 24th.
Everything is in order; the AKC accepted the judging panel and a
revised budget proposal has been submitted. The chairperson has
contacted Purina for donations; they will send Purina products and a
banner to support our event. Premiums will be e-mailed in August.
C. Field Trial Committe: The preliminary
reconciliation for the Hunting Dog Stake held on June 19th
was submitted. This event cost the club $115.00 as opposed to a
projected profit of $37.00.
D. Health Committee: 1. Sue Nakamura reported
that the Blood Draw held in Plainfield, CT on May 27tg
was a success. We thank Dr. Mills for donating her time. Thirteen
dogs donated blood; in addition seven litters of puppy tails were
sent to the study. The University of Minnesota is now requesting
blood from as many dogs as possible over the age of ten. They would
also like to be updated whenever one of the dogs in the study dies.
2. It was suggested
that CVVC support the National Canine Cancer Foundation’s
Hemangiosarcoma study. Sue Nakamura will investigate the study and
report back to the club on the organization, the study itself, and
its objective.
E. Conformation Committee:
1. The reconciliations for the
Greenwich Kennel Club and Long Shore/Southport shows were
submitted.
a. GKC cost the club
$949.00 as opposed to the budgeted cost of $816.15. Hospitality
cost $405 due to the Board approved purchase of sandwiches, an item
that was not included in the original budget.
b. Long
Shore/Southport KC show cost the club $381.00 as opposed to the
$670.30 proposed cost.
c. Next year’s
judges will be Jeff Pepper (the American, not Canadian, judge) for
GKC and Connie Gerstner-Miller for Long Shore/Southport.
d. The Vizsla Club
of Greater New York is moving its Specialty from the GSA show to the
Taconic Kennel Club Show that is held as part of this June weekend
circuit.
2. The problem with
the Garden State Association show reimbursement issue was discussed
at length. CVVC is owed $820 ($10.00 per dog X 82 dogs entered). It
was unanimously decided by the board not to terminate our
participation at this time, but rather to have President John Morris
send a letter to the GSA officers demanding payment of our monies by
August 1. Further discussion concerning this issue will be held
after that time. Other options for a Specialty were briefly
discussed. The membership will be kept apprised of this issue.
E. Fun Day Committee
1. Fun Day was held
on June 20th at Flaherty Field. Not too many people
attended, but there were participants in each section: Versatility,
Tattooing, and Intro to Birds. Thanks to all who assisted.
F. Newsletter
1. Crystal still
needs the results of the Hunting Dog Stakes.
2. Carol Phelps sent
Crystal an issue of another Vizsla club’s online newsletter. Hard
copies would only be mailed to those without internet access, and
anyone who wanted a hard copy would be able to print one him or
herself.
3. There was also a
suggestion (no motion) that the hard copy of the CVVC directory
contain ads (Cabela’s, breeders, etc).
4. The next issue of
Vizsla Tales will be mailed on July 15th. For the
November 15th issue, requiring all materials to be to the
editor by 11/1.
5. Crystal would like
to include a ‘Brags’ page--has your puppy pointed his first bird?
Do your dogs have any new titles? Let her know so this vital
information can be included in our next issue. Club members are
also encouraged to reserve covers and submit photos, ads, articles,
and tips.

3. Joan’s suggestion
that CVVC donate a First Aid basket to the Nationals Raffle will be
discussed at the next general meeting.
New Business
A. David Margolin was asked to be club
photographer at events that he attends. He accepted the position

(He did the photos for us at our March 2008 and 2009 fun days, with lots of happy customers--including Sandy and me. LM) He has proposed that those who want to have photos taken of their dogs contact him . He is available to do pet portraits and pet/people portraits for us at his studio in Manchester. Weekends are best for his schedule. If there are three or more CVVC members who set up appointments together, there will be no sitting fee. He is able to print the photos while you wait. Sandy Jacobus is willing to be the contact person for the photo days. She can be contacted by e-mail, or phone--her phone # is: 860 693-2158.
