Happy 2008 Rescue: Otis

From Otis' new mom: Otis is lying here by my feet as I write this. He has been outside most of the evening so he is happily relaxing and that makes me happy too. He is doing quite well. He is as handsome and social and affectionate as ever. He is also as energetic as ever -- simply tireless. He can be a maniac at times (racing around at full speed without regard for who might be in his path) but he has also acquired some valuable skills over the past year (sit, stay, come, down, shake, etc.). Of course we keep working on others -- not jumping up on us and our guests, for example -- and I have a feeling we'll be working on that challenge forever.

Otis has some quirks - for example, he loves shredding toilet paper rolls and he has the uncanny ability to find my gloves -- in drawers, in pockets, in my purse -- and drop them around the house. This might not happen for a few weeks, but then it can happen several times in a day. He's a character. All our friends agree. He is definitely not one of those chubby labs that sits quietly in the corner like the dogs most of our friends seem to have. But we knew that when we signed up for a viszla.

Basically, I adore him but he also drives me crazy! Does this sound like a familiar story?

Here is a photo of Otis sitting in his favorite chair. Did I send this one to you already?
