Directions to Millstream Preserve Route 66 HEbron, CT From Hartford: Take Route 2 East to Exit 13. Left on to Route 66 East. Stay on Route 66 East for approximately 7 miles. EVENT SECRETARY SUSAN POTOCIK 6 LINDHOLMS CORNER ANDOVER, CT 06232 PH: 860-742-0676 INTRODUCTION TO BIRDS The Introduction To Birds will give you the opportunity to introduce your vizsla to bird work. We are running these events like hunt tests so that you may familiarize yourself with the procedures of the junior level of the AKC Hunt Test Program. An experienced person/mentor will work with each handler, and bird contact is 100% guaranteed. The dogs will be braced (two dogs running together) and the course will be approximately 25 minutes. We will brace similarly aged dogs together. Handlers will NOT be permitted to carry blank guns at this event. Only the mentors will shoot. You must indicate at registration whether you want to be in a brace with shooting. We plan to run concurrent courses. The actual schedule will be posted on the website by Wednesday, September 13, 2006. www.ctvalleyvizslaclub.org Puppies must be at least three months of age to participate; bitches in season may not participate. Pre-registration is required. You will be assigned a running time which will be posted on the web page and the schedule will be strictly enforced. If you are not present to run in your time slot, you will forfeit your opportunity to run. To register, complete the information to the right (one form per dog) and return it to event secretary, Susan Potocik, before Monday, September 11th. The cost is $25.00 per dog. It is advisable to wear long pants because the course may have poison ivy, prickers and ticks. Bring footwear appropriate for muddy conditions.

Experienced handlers will work with small groups of participants and teach basic skills, including standing for the judges examination, free-baiting and gaiting. Following the training portion of this program, there will be a fun match. We plan to start the handling program after lunch.
