Blood Draw for Epilepsy Sunday, July 13, 2008 1-4pm In 2007, CVVC held four blood draws to support Dr. Ned Patterson of the University of Minnesota with his Vizsla Epilepsy Research Project. Thanks to your support we were able to contribute more than 100 blood samples! The blood draws are being organized for AKC-registered pure-bred Vizslas to enable Dr. Patterson to create a DNA test which could determine the seizure status of Vizslas at a very young age. This project is on-going and Dr. Patterson and his team are hoping to soon move on the next faze of their project. I am writing this letter to solicit your help and support in reaching as many Vizsla owners as possible for the next blood draw, which CVVC plans to hold on Sunday, July 13, 2008 at 1;00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. Dr. Alexis Sutter DMV Manchester Veterinary Clinic 156 Spencer Street Manchester, CT 06040 Tel. (860) 646-5170 Thirty Vizslas are needed for each event. Any Vizsla older than 6 – 9 months, bred in USA or abroad, whether they have seized or not is wanted. The blood draw is free. There will be a door prize at both events for one of the lucky participants – a name will be drawn after the dogs have donated their blood. In addition to having you participate yourself, we would appreciate receiving as many names as possible of Vizsla owners that you know who live in the central Connecticut area or who might be willing to travel a bit further on a lovely Sunday afternoon that have not yet participated in a previous blood draw. If you are a breeder, this year I am pleased to tell you that we are now accepting the tails of your litters as part of our submission. Please contact either Susan or Carol for the details about submitting your tails. Please contact one of the organizers of this event for an appointment.
